This is a guest episode featuring an interview with the researcher and artist Dr Lucy Cathcart Frödén, who kindly agreed to talk about her research on listening, the sounds of state violence, conviviality, and resistance. She also shared an extract from her audio essay ‘Cranial Nerve Number Eight’ and spoke about podcasting as a research practice and offered the students some words of encouragement.
Lucy Cathcart Frödén is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Oslo, Norway exploring relationships between music, sound and power in criminal justice. She is also an experienced podcast producer, and her podcasts Our Chance of Becoming Human and The Art of Bridging have reached thousands of listeners in over 20 countries.
